Unfortunately, sometimes a tooth breaks or even breaks beyond repair, needing to be extracted. This is where reconstructive dentistry comes in...putting back what has been lost. Removable dentures are certainly not the only option to replace missing teeth. We now have predictable, long lasting alternatives that are fixed in place and esentially give you your tooth back!
A crown is indicated when a tooth has broken or cracked and needs a full coverage restoration to maintain the tooth structure from further breakage. Crowns no longer have to contain dark metal and they are more esthetic than ever! No one will even know you have a crown.
A bridge is similar to a crown in that it is a full-coverage restoration, but the difference is that a bridge covers more than one tooth. If you are missing a tooth and the teeth on either side are in need of crowns anyways, then perhaps a bridge is the right choice for you.
Implants are wonderful because they are a one tooth solution to a one tooth problem. If you want a fixed restoration, no longer do you have to involve the teeth on either side. A small titanium screw with a crown on top will look and feel just like your tooth before you lost it.
